Loss and Gain

Lo I have lost all loves

Like I would lose coins in my childhood on my way.

And I can’t reach you now.

Can’t  recollect paths-ways of the days bygone

And love-deluged calls coming from afar are dying down

In the screams rising from burning ghettos.

This is a new tale of gaining and losing things

And I have squandered a sizable portion of life.

The vulture of time has imprinted its paws’ marks on my face but it has not reached my heart, yet.

I have placed my dreams in hiding

In the ghettos of the most melancholy ones and connotations of love have changed for me.

Also I am unable to settle in rather neat and tidy places and hearts now.

My heart is stained with blood and my shabby shoes are wrapped with blood-soaked soil and fatigue of a long journey wearing them how could I enter some sophisticated-elite’s!

Stop calling me back, please.

Coil the kite line of expectation up now.

I have embarked on a journey to some new planetary-system in search of life.

खोना-पाना

देखो, मैंने सारे प्यार खो दिए

जैसे बचपन में सिक्के खो देती थी रास्ते में। 

और अब मैं नहीं पहुँच सकती तुम तक। 

बीते दिनों के रास्ते मुझे याद नहीं 

और दूर से आती प्रेमविह्वल पुकारें

डूब रहीं हैं

जलती हुई बस्तियों से उठते शोर में। 

यह चीज़ों को खोने और पाने की 

एक नयी कथा है

और मैं उम्र का एक बड़ा हिस्सा 

ख़र्च कर चुकी हूँ। 

वक़्त के गिद्ध ने चेहरे पर पंजों के निशान

छाप दिये हैं लेकिन हाँ, हृदय तक वह 

नहीं पहुँच सका है अबतक। 

मैंने अपने सपने छुपा कर रख दिये हैं

फ़लाकत-ज़दा लोगों की बस्ती में

और अब प्यार के मायने बदल चुके हैं

मेरे लिए। 

और वैसे भी मैं बेहद साफ़-सुथरी जगहों 

और दिलों में

व्यवस्थित नहीं हो सकती। 

मेरा हृदय ख़ून में लथपथ है और

ख़ून सनी मिट्टी और लम्बे सफ़र की थकान से

लिथड़ी हुई हैं मेरी जर्जर जूतियाँ जिन्हें पहने हुए

 मैं किसी सुसंस्कृत-सम्भ्रान्त नागरिक के घर

भला कैसे जा सकती हूँ! 

वापस बुला लो तुम अपनी पुकार। 

प्रतीक्षा के पतंग की डोर लपेट लो। 

मैं जीवन की तलाश में किसी नये

नक्षत्र मण्डल की यात्रा पर

जा रही  हूँ।
