What happened in Hathras,

Is a vile-ugly metaphor

Of our cruel land and times....

They want to cut off our tongue,

they want to break our backbone.

They fear us speaking loud and clear,

they fear us standing taut and bold.

So rightly do they fear.

They should fear indeed.

Afraid they are,

so they want to keep us afraid.

They keep us afraid with all their might.

And one day the people fear no more.

Then the fearless people 

who quietly remembered everything

they were made to go through 

Un-erringly

make all the accounts even. 

Remember it well, that

everything would be remembered,

everything will be paid fully back,

and no dues will be left!

(मूल कविता :

हाथरस की घटना हमारे क्रूर देश-काल का जघन्य-वीभत्स रूपक है ।

वे हमारी जीभ काट लेना चाहते हैं और रीढ़ की हड्डी तोड़ देना चाहते हैं । वे हमारे आवाज़ उठाने और तनकर खड़े होने से डरते हैं । वे अपनी पूरी ताकत के बावजूद डरते हैं ।

और वे बिल्कुल सही डरते हैं । उन्हें डरना भी चाहिए । वे डरते हैं, इसलिए हमें डराकर रखना चाहते हैं । वे इतना डराते हैं कि एक दिन लोगों का डर ख़त्म हो जाता है ।

फिर निडर हो चुके लोग, जो चुपचाप वह सब याद रखे हुए थे जो उनके साथ गुज़री थी, सारा हिसाब-किताब बिना कोई ग़लती किये चुकता करते हैं ।

याद रखो कि सब याद रखा जायेगा और सारा हिसाब चुकता किया जायेगा ! )
